Student Spotlight: Keenan Williams
December 28, 2009
A Christmas story written by 12-year old Keenan Williams, a current student at Golightly Educational Center and former InsideOut student, has been published in the Yak section of the Detroit Free Press and was also the triggering subject for columnist Rochelle Riley’s article that appeared in the Free Press on Christmas day.
We’re not the least bit surprised by where Keenan’s imagination has taken him. When he was a student in the 3rd grade he wrote a story called “The Other Side of the Sky.” In that story a character named “Mr. Pete” is taken to the “other side of the sky” where a “flying meat-eating dinosaur” tries to eat Mr. Pete who is saved when George Washington cuts down a cherry tree and the tree falls on the dinosaur.

Kudos to Keenan for writing such an inventive story and for Rochelle for giving Keenan the attention he deserves.
